Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Yoka News ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using Yoka News, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use immediately.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Users who are minors must have the permission of, and be directly supervised by, a parent or guardian.

2. Intellectual Property Rights

Unless otherwise indicated, Yoka News and all its source code, designs, graphics, and content ("Content") are our proprietary property and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-commercial licence to access and use the platform solely for your personal use. No Content may be copied, reproduced, republished, sold, or otherwise exploited without our prior written permission.

3. User Representations

By using Yoka News, you represent and warrant that:

All registration information you provide is true, accurate, and current.
You have the legal capacity to enter into these terms.
You will not access the platform through automated or non-human means.
Your use of the platform will not violate any applicable law or regulation.

4. User Registration & Account Security

You must register for an account to access author features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access. We reserve the right to remove or reclaim usernames that are inappropriate or objectionable.

5. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

Use the platform for any unlawful or unauthorised purpose.
Trick, defraud, or mislead us or other users.
Circumvent or interfere with the platform's security features.
Upload viruses, malware, or any disruptive code.
Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the platform.
Impersonate another user or person.
Post spam, chain letters, or mass solicitations.
Engage in any activity that artificially inflates view counts or earnings.
Sell or transfer your account or author profile.
Submit plagiarised content.

6. User-Generated Contributions

Authors may create, submit, and publish articles and other content ("Contributions") on Yoka News. By posting Contributions, you represent and warrant that:

You own or have the necessary rights to publish the content.
The content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
The content is accurate and not misleading.
The content does not contain nudity, hate speech, or material that promotes violence or discrimination.
The content complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

Any violation may result in content removal and/or account suspension.

7. Contribution Licence

By publishing Contributions on Yoka News, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, and archive your content for the purposes of operating and promoting the platform. You retain full ownership of your Contributions. We may edit, re-categorise, or remove Contributions at our discretion.

8. Earnings & Payments

Registered authors earn revenue based on valid article views. The following conditions apply:

Authors earn GHS 0.10 per valid view.
Views are eligible for earnings for up to 14 days after an article is published. Individual articles may have a different window assigned by an editor.
View eligibility is determined by our fraud-detection system. Views that exceed 1 per IP address per hour are automatically flagged as invalid and do not count toward earnings.
Earnings are settled daily at 02:00 AM.
The minimum balance required to submit a withdrawal request is GHS 100.00.
A 2.0% platform service fee is deducted from every withdrawal.
Payments are processed between the 25th and 30th of each month. Lodge a support request if payment is delayed beyond this window.
We reserve the right to adjust payment rates, fees, and thresholds at any time. Changes will be communicated by updating this page.

9. Invalid Traffic & Fraud Prevention

Invalid traffic includes any views or interactions that artificially inflate earnings. This includes, but is not limited to:

Authors viewing their own articles repeatedly to generate earnings.
Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to drive traffic.
Organising coordinated click or view campaigns.
Incentivising others to view content purely for earnings purposes.

Accounts found engaging in invalid traffic will have affected earnings deducted. Repeated violations will result in permanent account suspension and forfeiture of outstanding balance.

10. Content Policy & Flagged Articles

Articles are subject to editorial review at any time. The following will result in an article being flagged or removed:

Plagiarism: Articles must be at least 90% original. Content copied from other sources will be removed.
Nudity & Harmful Content: Articles containing nudity, explicit imagery, or content that promotes harm are prohibited.
Invalid Content: Articles with poor grammar, excessive spelling errors, or fewer than 300 words may be flagged.

Views earned on flagged articles will be deducted from the author's balance. Where no violations are found, views continue to be credited normally.

11. Termination & Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for breach of these terms or any applicable law. Upon termination:

You are prohibited from creating a new account under any name.
Outstanding balances tied to policy violations are forfeited.
Balances on accounts closed due to inactivity (6+ consecutive months) will be paid out if they meet the minimum withdrawal threshold.

You may dispute a termination or withheld payment within 30 days by contacting our support team.

12. Third-Party Content & Links

The platform may contain links to third-party websites or content. We do not review, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third-party content. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and governed by their own terms.

13. Modifications & Interruptions

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the platform at any time without notice. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime or changes to the platform's features or pricing.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The platform is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content on the platform.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yoka News and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability to you for any cause shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us in the one (1) month prior to the claim.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Yoka News, its affiliates, and all respective officers, agents, and employees from any loss, liability, claim, or demand — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of your Contributions, your use of the platform, or your breach of these terms.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ghana. You irrevocably consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana for any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms.
